Recently, I have heard a talk from Acts talk that I really felt the urge to share with anyone who would give time to read this post. I was never born into a Christian family, so I knew Christianity through friends in school and college. They would always eagerly prompt me to join Christian Fellowship and so I did. Then, as time goes on by, I started becoming more accustomed to going for CF meetings. Then, one of my friends invited me to her church to experience the difference of being in church and just merely being in a college club.
That was the first time I ever visited a church and I was so scared that I might be the one that stands out like a thorn but all my anxiety was thrown away when I heard the word of God from the pastor. They say that everything comes from God and that was not the only word to blow me away. the pastor preached about perceptive and perception and I shall try to recall as much as I can to make you feel what I have experienced on that fateful day. So here goes:
Perspective
If you look at it this way, God is everything that we are not. We cannot be proud or rich or strong. We should be the weak, the poor and the humble while God is the Almighty. He is the one from above that has the power and authority to take over our lives and transform it. Life is short and we are here to carry out the duty that He has given to us and nothing more. We should be humble in everything we do and always obey His words and orders.
Perception
There was a story the pastor had given to us :
"There was this lady who was ill and was suffering a disease that was disfiguring her. At one point, she decided to exit her house to find Jesus. She bent while she walked and made her way towards Jesus through the overwhelming crowd. As she reached Him, she touched His robe and was cured. He then said " Who touched me ? "
That was because He felt power surging through His body to the woman. We must make a point to stand out from the crowd just as the woman did. We must be the fire for God and fire is also known as pur (in Latin I think) meaning lightning. As we know, lightning strikes the highest point in the open ground. So even though the woman was bending down in the crowd, her hunger for jesus made her the high point among the crowd. So, we must set and example to lead a life that represents everything that is good about God.
I'm sorry if in any way this message offended you. I thought that I might just write down here what I have learned in church last week. It was an amazing day that day and I wish that you have an amazing day too. =)
